CRPS Treatment
CRPS is a condition that can be managed and even reversed with lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise, and pain management.
Goal #1 of CRPS treatment- education:
Understanding the cause of injury to the body and the ongoing lifestyle factors which are contributing to the bodies tendency toward maladaptive immune system responses.

Goal #2 of CRPS treatment- dietary changes:
A diet rich in proinflammatory foods is taxing on the immune system and reduces the body's ability to heal normally. Additionally, nutrients may be deficient in a Western style diet high in refined foods. These nutrients are required for optimal recovery from inflammation, nerve injury, and cellular (oxidative) damage.

Goal #3 of CRPS treatment- identify and eliminate possible environmental toxins:
Toxins such as mercury, lead, or arsenic have neurotoxic effects, can result in a peripheral neuropathy, and should therefore be eliminated from the living/work environment.

Goal #4 of CRPS treatment- Pain management
CRPS is one of the most potentially painful medical conditions know to humankind. Following a nerve injury afferent (toward the brain) pain pathways often become sensitized causing an increased pain experience. Pain management strategies are key to coping and day-to-day functioning.

Goal #5 of CRPS treatment- Gradual return to physical functioning
Strengthening muscles and normalizing range of motion for CRPS sufferers is an important rehabilitative focus of the treatment plan. Exercise not only strengthens and limbers but also speeds the metabolic processes involved in healing.
